NATIONAL CALL IN DAY IS FRIDAY, AUGUST 29TH!
Please call the White House and ask them to stop the BLM from destroying Cloud's Herd!
Last summer a group of friends on Facebook decided to help the stray dogs in Turkey by organizing a world rally. I was asked to do one in Paris.
Though I felt really scared doing this alone, as I was doing a research about this topic, I discovered the sad fate of these dogs and I just couldn't let this happen without doing something. I found the Turkish blogs talking about their daily fight against authorities and abusers.

Many dogs live in the street and even if some kind souls feed them, most of the people consider them as a nuisance and are afraid as they could have rabies. Not all the towns have shelters, and the shelters are not always well administrated. People prefer buying dogs than adopting these lost souls. Although they are not aggressive, the municipalities instead of practising the spay & neuter programs choose to get rid of them by poisoning, shooting or dumping them far from the town, mostly near the railways and roads where there are endangered by the traffic, the heat, dying by hunger or thirst.
Also there are abusers who raped some of them, burned some alive, tortured puppies by cutting their tails or ears. they were not punished, no investigation was done. The Turkish activists do their best but they need us to spread the word widely so that the government would know that they are certainly not able to fit with the European Union standards.
Finally I did my rally on October the 4th. During this journey I met people who were individual activists like me, but very active and courageous. They offered some help and the rally went very well.
Here are the pictures of the rally in Paris, and the rally in all countries (about 11, 16 towns)

Our actions were reported on the site http://www.worldanimalday.co.uk
We were about 40 on the Champs Elysees and lots of people signed the petition. Afterwards I sent all of them plus the online signatures to the Turkish Embassy with a letter to ask justice for these dogs. But I couldn't have any appointment at the Embassy.
Sadly since October the massacre has continued here and there, dogs tortured, poisoned, killed, mutilated, dumped in the forrests far from any habitation, and so on.
The example of Jonah, the famous dog is representative of the way animals are treated in Turkey, especially in the East of the country. (Beware, the video is graphic, it shows a dog who was hit by a car, leaning for 3 days in the street because he couldn't walk anymore, being dragged on the floor and put in the garbage truck. One can feel his pain and distress, how could they do this is beyond understanding. We had hoped so much he would survive, but he died in december.

Recently we received a video showing a wolf being tortured then killed, and a baby bear drowned on purpose by hunters and Kurd villagers. Wild animals have no chance to survive there.
Now we have edited a new petition.

I decided to do the 2nd rally because elections are soon, and the government must see that we're still there, spreading the word about their behaviour. We want them to apply the law bill 5199 voted in Parliament in 2004. Because all these actions are illegal.
The rally will take place on March the 28th in Paris. Other participa, nts are in Denmark, Germany, Holland, Canada as far as I know. I will also talk about the pet shops, the traffic of puppies and kittens in Paris due to the Romanians (Roms).
